The staff at The Dublin Wellness Centre have welcomed me into their business with outstretched arms. Whether it was Sinead’s delicious vegan gummies, Helen and Saskia’s warming smile, or Rachaels funny jokes.

Coming to a new country and learning the culture in a short period of time can be intimidating, but I have learned to embrace the challenge. The staff at The Dublin Wellness Centre have welcomed me into their business with outstretched arms. Whether it was Sinead’s delicious vegan gummies, Helen and Saskia’s warming smile, or Rachaels funny jokes. Each person at the Dublin Wellness Center has gone out of their way to introduce themselves or ask about myself.

My name is Annika Frank, I am 20 years old and from America. I was born and raised in the great state of Iowa. I am in Ireland for a study abroad semester through my college until May. I will intern at the Dublin Wellness Centre every Monday and Friday (and occasionally you might see me around on a Wednesday) up until I depart back home in May. I have had many tasks since being at the Centre. I have been able to help with signing people in for yoga and pilates classes, prepare the rooms for the yoga and pilates classes, overlooking the work of the receptionists, learning how to make bookings, learning about invoices and payments, and running to Decwells Hardware store or Dunnes Stores Market. Here’s a fun story for your day. Today I had the task of going to get some cleaning supplies for the Centre. Walking down the streets of Dublin feeling confident with Google maps on my phone resting in my hands…..I still managed to find myself lost! I made my way to Decwells Hardware store to purchase some cleaning supplies. Unfortunately, they did not have the specific brand I needed. I bought an off-brand and made my way back to the Dublin Wellness Centre. Not feeling as confident as I did when I walked out of the door, I still was proud I found my way to Decwells Hardware store. Oh, did I mention I was supposed to go to Dunnes Stores? Not Deckwells! Nothing like messing up on my third day at the job. Life is about making mistakes and learning from them. I now can successfully say after making my mistakes, I can navigate my way to Dunnes Stores Market without using Google maps! I am very excited to continue working with the members of the Dublin Wellness Centre and learn more about the business in these next few months.
